     Why this Matters?  Future Watch is not an anti-development group. Growth and change in Cavan Monaghan is inevitable. We believe that, done properly and thoughtfully, development can lead to a rich, diverse, vibrant and livable community. The problem with the current onslaught of development applications is that they significantly expand the scale of development beyond anything that was contemplated by the Township in its 2020 Growth Strategy. The Township is unprepared to provide the physical and practical services necessary to support this rate of population growth. The Township has also failed to undertake any adequate degree of watershed planning to ensure that areas of significant environmental value are protected as it considers these development applications. The Township has not sought or obtained an adequate degree of provincial financial support to put in place the services and amenities that would be necessary to serve such a growth in population. The Township's water treatment system is at capacity and will not be able to service any significant amount of population growth within the Millbrook Urban Area without major upgrades, the plans for which have not been put into place.
